Arthur Allen Toven Sr., 83, of Anita, passed away on Wednesday July 28, 2021 at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born April 25, 1938 to Frank and Rebecca (Lingenfelter) Toven in Wishaw.
Al was a peacetime veteran, serving with the United States Navy. He retired from Labor Union 910. He worked on various construction projects throughout his working career. Including the DuBois Mall, Punxsutawney Area Hospital and the Punxsutawney Civic Center. Al was an active Charter member of the McCalmont Township Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years, where he was known as “Pa”. Al enjoyed hunting, fishing, eating at the Fusion Buffett, spending time with his family and his dog ChiChi.
He is survived by his wife Barbara H. Toven of Anita, whom he married July 31, 2001.
Four sons, Authur Allen Toven Jr. and wife Dolores, Anita, Thomas Edward Toven and wife Wanda, Dayton, Michael Anthony Toven and wife Beth, Morganton, North Carolina,
Kevin Eric Toven and wife Carrie, Anita, eight grandchildren, Sara, Jessica, Amanda, Chelsey, Brett, Derek, Ciara and Olivia, 9 great grandchildren, three brothers, Frank Toven and wife Kathleen, Reynoldville, Gordon Toven, DuBois, Robert Toven, Punxsutawney,
two sisters Judy Biggie, Reynoldsville and Sandra Scott and husband Jack, Ohio, three step children, Michael Lee Mott, Punxsutawney, Michele Hutchinson, Cloe, Melanie Sue Elkin and husband Greg, Punxsutawney, 3 step grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Joan Loraine (Bakewell) Toven in 1993, a great granddaughter Harper Toven, a sister Sharon Toven, two brothers, Walter Wayne Toven and Richard “Dick” Toven.
Burial will take place Syphrit Cemetery, Wishaw.
A memorial service will be held on August 7, 2021 at the McCalmont Township Firehall, at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McCalmont Township Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 16, 101 Fire House Lane, Anita, PA 15711.
