Barbara A. Markle

Barbara A. Markle, 78 of Mahaffey, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at her home, with her family by her side.

She was born July 17, 1947, to Joseph and Luella (Worrell) Lines, in Niagara Falls, NY. 

Barb was a graduate of Purchase Line High School and DuBois Business College. She worked as an administrative assistant and nurse’s aid in the Purchase Line School District for over 30 years. In Barb’s younger years she was active with the Mahaffey Community Ambulance. She was the former Clearfield County Ambulance Association President and was the Clearfield County Ambulance Training Coordinator. She formerly served on the Clearfield County Children and Youth Board, was a former member of the Eastern Star, former Union President for AFSCME, and was the former secretary for the Mahaffey Sewer Authority. She enjoyed taking trips to Benezette to see the elk, collecting antiques and spending time with her family. 

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Roy “Butch” Markle, Mahaffey, three sons; Michael S. Markle, LaJose, Andrew R. Markle and wife Jen, Glen Campbell, and Brandon J. Markle, Mahaffey, five grandchildren and two special friends Marsha Smith and Janet Zorger. 

She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and also on Tuesdsay from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market Street, Mahaffey, PA 15701.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mahaffey Community Ambulance Association, PO Box 32, Mahaffey, PA 15757.
