Carole (McMeans) Haire, 81, of Punxsutawney passed away on March 23, 2025, at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home with her family by her side.

She was born on August 19, 1943, to Otis and Louise McMeans of Punxsutawney.

Carole enjoyed walking, golfing, swimming, biking, bowling, and playing Bridge. She also loved to cook and bake for her family. As her family grew, she loved spending time with her grandkids and eventually her great-grandchildren. She especially loved reading to them whenever she was with them. She enjoyed car rides around the Punxsutawney area with her husband Jack and traveling with him across the country. She enjoyed going to the beach with family and friends.

She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church of Punxsutawney. While a member there she served as a Deacon, Elder, and Liturgist.

Carole was a library aide in the Punxsutawney Area School District for many years and retired from Jenks Hill Elementary School.

Carole is survived by daughters Jody H. Barton (Bill) of Bellefonte and Julie Haire (Harry Hufford) of Tyrone, grandchildren Cassie Orndorff (Kevin), Zach (Maria) Barton, all of Bellefonte and Skylar Hetrick of Philadelphia and great-grandchildren Kevin, Kennedy, and Kolton Orndorff and her brother Mike McMeans.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Jack Haire on August 6, 2024 and by her sister Marcia Levy.

Funeral services are private and have been entrusted into the care of McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Because of Jack and Carole’s love of watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports, donations can be made to Milesburg Little League at PO Box 126, Milesburg, PA 16853.
