Caroline Frances Britten, 82, of Rochester Mills, PA, formerly of Philipsburg, PA, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 22,2023.

She was born March 19, 1940 to Karl and Mary (Rusnak) Matas in Johnstown.

She was the 11th of 16 children. Caroline was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance churches in Osceola Mills and Clearfield. She graduated from Greater Johnstown High School in 1958.

Caroline was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She got joy from others’ joy.  She was a great listener and was always looking for a way to care for and help others.  Caroline enjoyed a simple life: praying for others, reading and discussing the Bible, and spending time with her family, especially her three granddaughters.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Richard L Britten and Deanna (Rochester Mills) and Gregg Britten and Diana (Philipsburg), three grandchildren: Megan Britten (Woodbridge, VA), Jessica Britten (Tampa, FL), and Hannah Britten (Ryan Yarnell, fiancé) (Franklin, PA,) daughter-in-law Cindy Britten, (Knoxville TN), and siblings, Paul Matas (Esther); Raymond Matas (Elaine); Ronald Matas(Judy); Donald Matas(Barbara); Ruth Oravec, Dorothy Marley (John); and Martha Fabick (Raymond); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert L. Britten, May, 2022 a son Todd, brothers, Joseph, John, Karl, David, Albert, and Daniel; and sisters, Mildred Burda, and Mary Fabry.

Friends will be received on Monday, February 27, 2023  from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM at Mt. Carmel Church, 3023 Clover Run Road, Mahaffey, PA 15757.

Interment will take place at Mahoning Union Cemetery, Marchand, PA

The Waldron Funeral Home of Mahaffey have been entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the Philipsburg Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 336 Walnut St., Philipsburg, PA 16866.
