Celine M. Tersine, 85 of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021, peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 27, 1935 in Punxsutawney to the late Joseph “Bid” Poydock and Julia (Kolson) Poydock.
Celine was an active member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister. She also administered communion to church members who were unable to attend mass. She was a graduate of Adrian High School. She worked many years preparing taxes for H&R Block. Celine volunteered her time for the Fresh Air Fund, helping bring inner city children to the area to discover country life. One of her greatest loves was traveling to different parts of the world and enjoying different cultures and experiences.
She was married to her beloved husband of 63 years, William “Terry” Tersine of Punxsutawney. They were married October 19, 1957. Together they had five children: Mary Sue Tersine and husband Maury Marshall of Hillsboro, Texas, William “Bill” Tersine and wife Carol Ann of Red Hill, Thomas J. Tersine and wife Pam of Talkeetna, Alaska, and Carol Wehrle and husband George of Rossiter. Additionally, she is survived by six wonderful grandchildren: Anthony Tersine and wife Janelle, Amy Tersine, Terry James “TJ” Tersine and wife Amy, Christina Tersine, Matthew Wehrle and Andrew Wehrle, as well as two great grandchildren, Jemma Tersine and Dean Tersine. She is also survived by a sister, Josephine “Jo” Rudolph and husband James of Zelienople.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, James Tersine.
Friends will be received Sunday, March 7, 2021 from 2:00-5:00 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc. 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney. It is asked that everyone attending wear a mask and practice social distancing.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, March 8, 2021 at SSCD with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
