Cheryl A. Phillips

Cheryl A Phillips, 64 of Punxsutawney, passed away at her home, on Wednesday January 8, 2025 with her family by her side. 

She was born May 24, 1960 to Louis and Celestine (Lesnick) Chenoga in Punxsutawney.

Cheryl was a 1978 graduate of the Punxsutawney Area High School. After graduation she worked at Punxsy Sportswear. Cheryl then started working as an LPN at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital in August 1991. She worked to become a Registered Nurse and achieved her Bachelor of Nursing Degree. She worked at the hospital for 30 years. Cheryl enjoyed walking, exercising, vacationing at various beaches and countries, reading, crocheting, and visiting with friends and family. Most of all she loved her family. She enjoyed attending her children’s, sporting events, and other family events. 

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dennis L. “Denny” Phillips, two daughters, Jennifer R. Whitesell, Nicole L. Phillips and husband James Lively, three grandchildren, Thea and JJ Lively, and Ashley Maines, three great grandchildren, Brently, Noah and Wesley Maines, all of Punxsutawney. Three brothers Larry S. Chenoga, and Richard E. Chenoga (Norma), Columbus, OH, Louis F. Chenoga (Molly), Hastings, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Dennis F. Chenoga, and a sister-in-law Pamela P. Chenoga, 

Friends will be received on Monday from 3-7 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home, 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767. Friends will also be received on Tuesday, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Banner Ridge Community Church, 1883 Banner Ridge Road, Mahaffey, PA 15757 with Pastor James Hurd officiating.

Graveside services will take place at Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
