David S. Payne

David S. Payne, 62, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born November 20, 1959 to David H. and Sandra (Shaffer) Payne in Punxsutawney.

Dave attended Woodland Avenue United Methodist Church. He was a devoted man to his faith and lived a good Christian life. He was a generous man and gave the best gifts ever!  Dave was a master machinist at Gasbarre Products in DuBois. He loved his job and co-workers. He always said “I’m going to work until I’m 80 years old and then move to the Outer Banks, NC to fish”.  Dave liked the outdoors, riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, doing lawn work and his Saturday night pizza.

He is survived by his mother, his dog Duncan, his aunt, Kaye Shaffer, cousins; Leslie Shaffer, Nathan Shaffer and wife Christina and their son Vinny, of Punxsutawney, Polly Ann Davis and husband Randy of CO, his aunt Mary Louise Mahlon and husband Arthur, of Clearfield, and his uncle Howard Shaffer and Cindy Brown, of Rossiter.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Doug Wolfe officiating.

Interment will take place at Union Cemetery in Rossiter.
