Donald E. Chambers Sr., 76 of Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 surrounded by his family at home. Donald was born September 2, 1941 in N. Mahoning Twp. on his family's farm which was founded by his parents, the late Donald and Mary (Brocious) Chambers. Donald was a veteran of the US Marine Corps serving his tour of duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He continued to run his family's farm while also working many years as a heavy equipment operator for Doverspike Bros. Coal Co. and the Local Union #66 before retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and gardening as well as beekeeping. Donald was also the Superintendent of the swine barn at the Indiana County Fairgrounds and participated in the 4H Club and a member of the Indiana Co. Jr. Livestock Committee. However his greatest enjoyment was the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he adored. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley I. (McDowell) Chambers. They were married December 29, 1962. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two sons; Donald "Butch" Chambers Jr. and wife Wanda, Dennis Chambers and wife Paula, two daughters; Pamela Passmore and husband Dan, Gail Fetterhoff and husband Tom all of Punxsutawney. One brother; Robert Chambers and wife Clara of Smicksburg and two sisters; Thelma Hyskell of Smicksburg and Bonnie Jean Fisher and husband Ed of Charlston, WVA. Four grandchildren; Chad Fetterhoff, Dustin, Patrick and Austin Passmore and five step-grandchildren; Jessica Kerbaugh, Renee Marshall, Matthew Young, Leah Reesman and Jordan Stear. Thirteen great- grandchildren; Cole Robert and Cayden Fetterhoff, Remi Passmore, Emma Hinton, Mariah Schantz, Gage Ritchie, Zachary Edgell, Ty and Alea Marshall and Logan, Caleb and Hannah Young and Ashley Hain. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Friday, December 8, 2017 at the funeral home with Pator Clint Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Round Top Cemetery.
