Dorothy I (McMillen) Smith

Dorothy I. (McMillen) Smith, 91, of Punxsutawney, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 31, 2023.

She was born on March 17, 1932 to Norman and Ruth (Burkett) McMillen in Punxsutawney.

Dorothy was a member of New Beginnings Church in Walston. She was a woman of great faith and a prayer warrior. Dorothy served in several positions in the church. Her favorite was sending cards and her Tuesday morning Bible study and prayer group.

She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Berdine and husband Rob, Rices Landing, Patty Heitzenrater and husband Gary, Punxsutawney, three grandsons, Jason Smith, with whom she made her home, Doug Heitzenrater and wife Dana, Scott Preston, step grandchildren, Tom Fromal, Winona Berdine, Shawna Ray and husband Jess, great grandchildren, Brett and Gage Fromal, Janelle and Bailey Burkett, Benjamin Burgess, Shawn Heitzenrater, Owen and Grayson Preston, two sisters-in-law Barb McMillen, OH, Diane McMillen, Mahaffey, two brothers-in-law Larry Marshall and Wilmer McQuown, of Punxsutawney and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Levi T. Smith, whom she married February 25, 1953, who passed away January 11, 1982, a daughter, Nancy Woodbury, three brothers, Edward, Dale, Lenard, two sisters, Mae Haas and Jean Marshall.

Friends will be received on Monday from 3-7 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767. And also, on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the New Beginnings Church, 2785 Walston Road, Punxsutawney, PA 15767, with Rev. Devin Wintermyer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Beginnings Church, 2785 Walston Road, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
