Eugene E. Wood Sr.

Eugene Wood, 82, passed away on February 20, 2025, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born on December 5, 1942, to Ward and Virginia (Hawk) Wood in Akron, Ohio.

Eugene married the love of his life, Marie (Bair) Wood, on June 27, 1964, spending a lovely 60 years together. He worked at Means Brothers Construction for 10 years, eventually moving on to become a self-employed carpenter for over 40 years before his retirement. Eugene loved many things including woodworking, hunting, fishing, watching Gunsmoke on TV, and listening to Johnny Cash music.

In addition to his wife, Eugene is survived by two sons, Eugene Wood, Jr. (Tonya) and Dean Wood (Angela) of Punxsutawney; two daughters, Gina Wakefield (John) of Rochester Mills and Tina Kephart (Aaron) of Punxsutawney; five grandchildren, Shauna Osikowicz (Jake), Owen Wood, Porter Wood, Riley Wood, and Ryan Peace, all of Punxsutawney; one great-grandchild, Beckham Osikowicz of Punxsutawney; a brother, Donald Wood (Donna) of Benezette; two sisters, Wilma Pearce of Punxsutawney and Virginia Mapstone of Florida, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and family will be received at McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA, 15767 on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM as well as on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Matt Lantz officiating.
