Evelyn (Meckley) Manto, 86 of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
Evelyn was born July 1, 1930 in Rochester Mills, a daughter of the late William Meckley and Lula Bessie (Gearhart) Meckley.
She started working at the age of 16 at the Shoe Factory in Rossiter. She was also employed by Cameron-Sylvaina in Reynoldsville and Pramco Sportswear in Punxsutawney. She enjoyed making pancakes at DeFelices Family Restaurant and did volunteer work serving lunches at the Pine Street Senior Center. Evelyn loved to travel, play cards, jigsaw puzzles and puzzle books. Most of all visits from her family and friends meant the most to her.
She is survived by two daughters; Lula Bessie Alabran and husband Ken of Smicksburg, Terry Orange and husband David of Punxsutawney, three grandchildren; Beth Frederick and husband Troy, J. Robert Orange and Michael Orange, two great-grandchildren; Ethan Frederick and Jonas Orange.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers and sisters; Issac Meckley, Lillie James, Helen McCune, Myrtle Sprankle and Everett Meckley. Also eleven half brothers and sisters; John, Mary, Loretta, David, Icie, Sadie, Ruby, Willaim, Willard, Juliette and Maurice.
Friends will be received fromm 4-8 pm Sunday at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Don Pendley officiating.
Interment at North Point is private.
