Frank G. Boboige, 80, of Punxsutawney (Albion) entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 1st, 2024 at his home.
He was born February 12, 1943 to Joseph and Stella (Zavatsky) Boboige in Dubois.
He was a 1961 graduate of Sykesville High School where he was involved with managing several sports teams. He worked at the Loree Shoe Factory (Big Run) which is where he met the love of his life, Judy, in 1962. They wed shortly after in February of 1963. He enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and served for four years. During that time, he was stationed in San Diego, California before being deployed on the USS Skagit which was a supply ship that serviced the front lines of the Vietnam War. Upon returning, he attended Williamsport Community College, obtaining his associate degree as a machinist. He worked at a Cardboard Factory while there. Upon completion of his studies, the family returned to the Punxsutawney area where he was then employed by Riverside Markets as a baker. He worked there for 37 years until his retirement in 2007.
Frank was a devout member of St. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Punxsutawney. He was even known to walk to the church if the weather was inclement. Frank shared his love of baseball by coaching in various leagues in Punxsutawney, including the church league in which his entire family played. He was an avid Pittsburgh Sports fan, watching and attending many games with his family over the years. Frank also had a passion for music. He enjoyed listening, recording and sharing music with those he loved. He loved spending time with his family. Frank loved accompanying Judy on numerous bus trips throughout the years and family vacations to Florida with Anna, Fred and their family. In the latter years of his life Alzheimer’s began to rob him of his memories but he still enjoyed talking about sports, music, and his military experiences.
