Gail Rolls, 85, of Littlestown, PA passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by family.
Gail was born in Punxsutawney, PA to Ray and Helen Oliver. She attended Saints Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic School and later graduated from the Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She will be remembered most for her dedicated volunteer work as an athletic trainer at Governor Thomas Johnson High School and the impact she made spearheading the importance of having a paid athletic trainer available at all high school sporting events in Frederick County. Gail was inducted into the Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame in 1997.
She enjoyed visiting and collecting lighthouses and shells along the beach, doing intricate cross-stitches of lighthouses and she belonged to the U.S. and Outer Banks Lighthouse Societies, often taking trips with her husband, Gene, to clean the Fresnel lenses. She would frequently be seen with a camera draped around her neck, taking pictures of nature and anything her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were doing. She was an avid Pitt, Penn State and Steelers football fan.
Gail is survived by her children Elaine Berry (Ron Cekovich) of Hagerstown, MD, Dave Rolls (Niccole) of Frederick, MD, Emily Kephart (Jerry) of Frederick, MD, and Ellen Rollman (Arthur) of New Market, MD; sister Judy Sisk of Ray City, GA; grandchildren Dave Berry, Megan Berryoung (Tivoli), Nicholas Shelley, Hollister Bowling (Andrew), Jarrett Rolls (Jordan), Sara Kephart, Dalton Kephart, Patrick Rollman, Madison Angus (Dontae), and Greyson Rollman; great-grandchildren Olivia Berry, Liam Shelley, Colton Shelley and Hannah Shelley.
