Gladys E. Fuller-Pounds, 98, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on July 16, 2024 at Mulberry Square in Punxsutawney.
Gladys was born January 22, 1926 in Tarentum, PA to Homer Cleveland Fuller and Freda Melinda Raybuck. She was a 1945 graduate of Punxsutawney High School. After graduation Gladys worked at the Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, MI supporting the war effort. She also worked for Wurlitzer in Buffalo, NY before returning to Punxsutawney to start a family and work in sales at The Smart Shop, Ted Swartz Men’s Wear and Mooney Bros. Appliances. In her later years she served her community in many ways by volunteering and always helping a friend or neighbor in need. She was an avid walker and enjoyed walking to her favorite local places in town and would walk inside her apartment building during bad weather.
Gladys was married to Carl Pounds for over thirty years and after his passing she enjoyed many happy years with her companion Merl Deahl before his passing in 2004. Gladys is survived by two children; William A. Pounds of Altoona and Linda Russell of Punxsutawney. She was the proud grandmother of Stephen Russell, NV and Jonathan Russell (Nicole), TN and great grandmother of Adley, Tristan and Evie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Walter, and sisters Olive, Opal and Geraldine.
Friends will be received on Friday from 12pm until the time of service at 2pm at McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney, PA.
