Gordon K. Toven Sr, 83 of Reynoldsville, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, Pennsylvania.
He was born June 03, 1939 to Frank K. and Rebecca (Lingenfelter) Toven in Walston.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Reynoldsville, as well as the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Reynoldsville. He graduated from the school of “hard knocks and tough lessons,” which landed him an apprenticeship as a certified welder. This provided him a pathway to a life-long trade. He spent over four decades employed by Rogers Structural Steel and Amthor Steel Company before he retired. In his spare time Gordon’s true passions were playing baseball and then softball, hunting, fishing and gardening. He volunteered for a few years for the Meals on Wheels Program and thoroughly enjoyed the local youth fishing day where he shared his love of the sport with young anglers. He also had a green thumb, where he could sprout any plant he desired, which would flourish with fruit and flowers.
Gordon is survived by three sons: Gordon Jr (Lisa)., Daniel, and Todd (Kim); two brothers Frank and Robert; two sisters Judy and Sandra; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Rebecca, his first wife Rosemary, his second wife Mona Lou, brothers Arthur, Walter, and Richard, and sister Sharon.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 607 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, PA 15851, with Father Edward Walk, Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Adrian-Anita Catholic Cemetery.
