James E. “Ivan” Glatt, 82, of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, with family by his side. 

James, son of Joseph R. and Mary I. (Snyder) Glatt, was born on September 8, 1942, in St. Mary’s, PA. He was an Army Veteran, having served in Korea. He was the former head technician for Adelphia and Comcast Cable systems in Punxsutawney where he served the community for more than 25 years.

James was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed trekking the trails around Pennsylvania with his wife, Helen (Himes Orf) Glatt, who survives. James also enjoyed hiking, science fiction, computers and technology, and donating his time to the Mahoning Shadow Shuffle race each year. James led a quiet life, selflessly and generously practicing philanthropic work with countless non-profit organizations across the world.

In addition to his wife, Helen, James is survived by his sister, Helen (Gerald) Klingensmith of Punxsutawney; and his brother, David (Tina) Glatt of Erin, New York; a sister-in-law, Norma Glatt; his stepchildren, Patti (Randy) Smith of Punxsutawney, Michele (Mark) Heckman of Mount Pleasant, PA, and Chris Glatt; and his grandchildren Blair (Brook) Smith of Punxsutawney, Elizabeth (Aaron) White of Linesville, PA, Kolton Smith of Punxsutawney, and Luke (Aimee) Heckman of State College, and 2 great grandchildren, Emma and Noah Smith.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and Joseph; his sisters Mary Jo Yereb and Barbara Reasinger; and a stepson, Charles Glatt.

Friends will be received Sunday, from 1pm until the time of service at 4pm at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767 with Rev. Dr. J. Mark Heckman officiating.
