Janice C. (Wineberg) McConnaughey

Janice C. McConnaughey, 75, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

She was born November 22, 1947 to Clifton and Mildred (Leasure) Wineberg in Punxsutawney.

She was a 1965 Graduate of the Punxsutawney Area High School. She spent time at the Elk Run Avenue Gospel Chapel, reading and teaching Bible stories to children about salvation. Janice was avid at sewing and enjoyed playing the piano. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter Denette Godo and husband Ken, Punxsutawney, a son Michael McConnaughey and wife Raquel, Punxsutawney, four grandchildren; Jake Godo and wife Jocelyn, Josh Godo and wife Lexie, Shelby Gray and fiancé Dustin Domb, and Sydney McConnaughey, a great granddaughter, Thea Domb and another great grandchild on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clair “Bud” McConnaughey, February 4, 2019, a brother Clifton “Tip” Wineberg, and three sisters; Carol Wineberg, Darlene Diehl, and Donna Frantz.

Friends will be received on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 3:00 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney, PA 15767 with Rev. Don Brauer officiating.

Interment will take place at Ridgemont Cemetery.
