Jessie M. Bishop

Jessie M. Bishop, 89 of Punxsutawney, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday May 17, 2016 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Bishop was born November 3, 1926 in Ellwood City, a daughter of the late Brady E. and Jessie (Routlege) Wilcox.

She was preceeded in death by her husband Roy Bishop in 1996.

Jessie was a member of the Assembly of God Church where she was an active member of Christian Singles Ministry. She was a 50 year member of the Brady Grange #1218 and the Punxsutawney American Legion Ladies Auxillary. She retired as a bookeeper from WPXZ and also worked for vendor services at Rolla Jensen. She knitted mittens for Community Action Headstart, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and was a prayer warrior for family and friends.

She is survied by 3 daughters; Cheryl Gray and husband Paul of Bothell, WA. M. Sue Fye of North East, MD. Wanda Schmaus and husband Michael of Punxsutawney. 2 brothers; Calvin G. Wilcox of MI, Don Wilcox of Tempe, AZ. 3 grandchildren; Stephanie Chen and husband Chris, Diana Pittman and husband Jason, Joshua Horner and wife Erin. 4 great grandchildren; William, Benjamin, Zachary and Zoey. She is also survived by her first husband; Robert E. Fye of DuBois. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Roy, she was preceeded in death by 3 infant children and 1 sister, Ruth Rhodes.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday May 19, 2016 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 20 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Assembly of God Church.
