John C. Agnello

February 15, 1931 — May 25, 2017

John C. " Chink" Agnello, 86 of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.

John was born February 15, 1931 in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Farina) Agnello.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Mary (Matts) Agnello.

He was a veteran of the US Army.

He was a member of the SS. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of the Eagles #1231 Punxsutawney, Moose, Adrian Club, McCalmont Twp. Fire Co., and the Local Union #910. He owned and operated Agnello Body Shop for over 50 years, and was a former supervisor of McCalmont Twp. He enjoyed his daily trips to Sheetz and spending time with his Sheetz family. John had many friends and especially enjoyed the time he spent with his good friends Jay Philliber, Sam Whitfield and Wayne Unkifer.

He is survived by three daughters; Janis Miller (James) of Oklahoma, Nancy Wise (Thomas) of Anita, Cindy Collins (Tim) of Maryland, three brothers; Joseph Agnello of Anita, Leonard (Gloria Kunselman) of Rural Valley, Richard Agnello (Nancy) of Anita; one brother-in-law; Bill Anderson of Texas, six grandchildren; Jim Miller (Amanda), Jerry Miller, Mary Ann Brown (Randy), Michael Wise, Brianna Brown (Ryan), Josh Collins, five great-grandchildren; Ian, Zoey, Maverick, Easton, and Ashlyn.

He is preceded in death by four sisters; Katherine Balser, Nancy Warden, Genevieve Slovinsky, Josephine Anderson and two brothers; Samuel and Paul Agnello.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at SS. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as Celebrant.

Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the St. Vincent DePaul Society or to the donor's choice.
