John DiTucci Jr. of Punxsutawney, PA, (Gaskill Twp.) and formerly of Rochester, NY, entered into rest at the age of 74 on January 3rd, 2024 at his home with his wife by his side. He was born September 12th, 1949 to John DiTucci Sr. and Frances (Colaruotolo) DiTucci in Rochester, NY. John was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Army on one tour in Vietnam.
John was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Punxsutawney, including service as a deacon, youth teacher, and occasionally filled in for the pastor to write and deliver sermons. John found meaning in providing transportation to anyone in need – for any reason; from medical appointments, to college classes, or groceries. He cherished the numerous conversations, relationships, and opportunities to share his love for God. John was a journeyman machinist in Rochester for over twenty years. After moving to Punxsutawney, PA, with his family in 1994, John worked for Acme Machine for several years until transitioning into sales at Sears. He enjoyed camping, fishing, vegetable gardening, cooking, photography, and traveling. John was proud of his home-made pizza recipes, including his signature “Little Buddies” pizza muffins, and would make specialty pizzas for birthdays and events. He was fond of the family pets including horses, cats (names excluded for brevity), and dogs – especially his dog Venus, to whom John taught many tricks and took everywhere with him. John was involved in several productions with the Punxsutawney Theater Arts Guild, his favorite of which was “Oliver” where he played a main character, Mr. Brownlow. The role was special to John because his son Matthew was also a character in the production. When his daughter Tina was little, they would walk the pier in Charlotte on Lake Ontario and watch the waves crash against the pier. John placed his utmost trust in God, never ceased to awe at the morning sunrise, maintained a penchant for humor, and most of all, loved his family.
John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cynthia L. “Cindy” DiTucci, his children Tina (Mike) Ventrella and Matthew (Joelle) DiTucci, his four grandchildren: Colin, Hayden, Emma, and Jules, his three brothers: Charlie (Joanne) DiTucci, Thomas (Sharon) DiTucci, and Al (Susan) DiTucci, and numerous loved nieces and nephews.
