John W. Fairman, 88 of Walston, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born May 5, 1933 to George and Mary (Barone) Fairman in Punxsutawney.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army.
John was a member of Saint Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church. He was a 1951 Graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School. After serving with the Army, he attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he received a degree in Pharmacy. After graduating from college, he first worked at the DuBois Hospital. John then worked at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital for over 20 years where he retired from. He was a member of the Walston Club and Punxsutawney Eagles. John liked gardening, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. His family was his first priority and loved spending time with them.
He is survived by, two sisters Rose Day, Walston, Julie Farcus, Punxsutawney, two nephews, Robert Day, Walston and Tim Day and wife Tina, Pittsburgh, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Saint Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Msgr. Ricardo celebrant.
Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SSCD, St. Vincent DePaul Society, 616 West Mahoning Street, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
