Joyce E. Haagen

Joyce E. Haagen of Punxsutawney,  passed away on August 26, 2024 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. 

She was born on March 10, 1947, in Mahaffey, Pennsylvania, to Homer and Anna Laura (Homefelt) Hopkins. Joyce graduated from Purchase Line High School, Class of 1965.

Throughout her career, Joyce displayed a strong work ethic and dedication. She worked at Laurie Footwear and TA Truck Stop, and she owned and operated Joyce's Choices Catering, bringing joy and nourishment to many through her culinary skills. Joyce’s retirement was filled with creativity and love as she spent her time making afghans and quilts for her family. She enjoyed traveling and cherished moments with her loved ones, always prioritizing family in her life.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 58 years, her highschool sweetheart, Herbert Haagan, Punxsutawney. Two daughters, Michele Zarak (Wayne) of Ohio and Kim Reichard (Russ) of Punxsutawney; two sons, Ronald Haagen (Ruth) of Troutville and DeWayne Haagen (Judy) of Punxsutawney; and eight grandchildren, Megan Kean, Brittany Sloniger, Kevin McClintock, Jacob Reichard, Jesse Reichard, Aaron Flanders, Dustin Flanders, and Kenny Flanders, along with fourteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Judy Leslie (John) from Jamestown, her brother, Jim Hopkins (Joanie) from Mahaffey, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Anna Laura (Homefelt) Hopkins, and her sister, Joan Reagle.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McCabe Funeral Home, located at 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.   Additional visitation will take place on Saturday from  10 am until the time of the Funeral Service which will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:00 AM.  Interment will take place at McDowell Cemetery.
