Kathryn P. “Kate” Forrest, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at her home.
She was born August 30, 1932 to James W. and Myrtle (Bish) Johnson in Punxsutawney.
Kate was a graduate of the Punxsutawney Area High School. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Punxsutawney. In her younger years Kate worked at Pramco and Hour Glass Cleaners in Punxsy. Her two favorite things to do were going for walks with her dog Barney and reading and she also loved cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children; David “Crockett” Forrest, Jeanne M. Story and husband Eric, Mark “Woody” Forrest and wife Ann, all of Punxsutawney, five grandchildren; Eric Story and wife Deb, Heath Story and wife Sarah, Markie Burkett and husband David, Emily Forrest and Mike Mohr, and Ashley Curry, eight great grandchildren; Adelyn and Finley Story, Milo Burkett, Felix Burkett, Archer Burkett, Ethan Curry, Hunter Greeley and Julie Greeley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband David H. Forrest, two children; Lynn Forrest and Dennis Forrest, three brothers; Wilbur, Edward, and James Johnson and four sisters; Vonnie Eckman, Jackie Rippin, Nancy Scheuerman and Anna Hohwald.
Friends will be received on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 4:00 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767 with Reverend Larry Corner officiating.
Interment will take place at the American Legion Plot near Circle Hill Cemetery in Punxsutawney.
Memorial donations may be made to the Punxsutawney Memorial Library, 301 East Mahoning St. #4, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
