Leslie Joseph "Joe" Murray, II, was born on January 1, 1940, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. He passed away on December 14, 2024, at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville, PA. Joe lived a fulfilling life, dedicated to both his career and his family.
A 1957 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School, Joe laid a strong foundation that supported his professional pursuits. Joe's career was as a Natural Gas Consultant working with Fairman Drilling for 39 years after which he consulted for severel well companies including Geological Engineering, Rice Energy and Well Service Group. He took pride in his work and enjoyed the challenges it presented.
Joe was also a proud member of the National Guard, reflecting his commitment to service. He cherished his roots in Punxsutawney, where he enjoyed a life surrounded by family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife, Jaqueline (Hill) Murray, who resides in Smicksburg. Joe is survived by his sister, Vickie Spencer (Richard) of Punxsutawney, and his brother, Robert Murray (Bernie) of Punxsutawney. His children, Lynn Kim (Jim) of Butler, Leslie Joseph Murray, III of Denver, CO, and Tina Marie Mitchell of Nashville, TN, will carry on his legacy. Additionally, he is survived by his adopted children, Barbara Thomas of Phillipsburg and Shawn Murray of Salt Lake City, UT. Joe's family also includes stepchildren Eric Sprankle (Pam), Adam Sprankle (Lauren), Brenda Cooper (Tim), Jesse Ananea III (Mary Ann), Kevin Ananea (Starr), and Steven Pearce, all of Punxsutawney. He was proud of his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his previous wife Pam (Quick) Murray, and three brothers: Paul, Charlie, and Jim Murray.
Visitation services will be held at McCabe Funeral Home, located at 114 Maple Avenue in Punxsutawney. The first visitation will occur on December 19, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The second visitation will be on December 20, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Lakelawn Cemetery in Reynoldsville, PA.
