Louis N. Johnson, Jr., 87, of Mahaffey, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.
He was born October 19, 1934, to Louis N., Sr. and Ellen (Anderson) Johnson in Buffalo, NY.
Louis was a Chief Warrant Officer 4 of the Army Reserve Unit based in Clearfield over 30 years of service. Additionally, he was a civilian employee of the Army Reserve Maintenance Unit based in Punxsutawney until his retirement in 1992. In addition to numerous other awards, he was awarded The Meritorious Service Medal twice, in 1992 and 1995.
Louis was a member of Mahaffey Alliance Church where he served as a Board Member, Church Treasurer, Trustee, and in other church activities. Louis enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sports and school events and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lois A. Johnson, Mahaffey, on July 21, 2022, his parents, a brother, Elmer, and four sisters, Hulda, Marie, Luella, and Dorothy. He is survived by two sons, Gary L. Johnson and wife Pamela, Rochester Mills, Roger A. Johnson and fiancé Paula Miller, Penfield, two daughters, Sharon L. Voris and husband Timothy, Mahaffey, and Tina M. Collins and husband Gregory, Clearfield, five grandchildren, Jared Voris, Andrew Voris, Breanna Voris, Daniel Collins, Matthew Collins, a sister, Madelyn Stiffler, Indiana, and a brother-in-law, Clair Stiffler and wife Nancy, Mahaffey.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-6:00 PM at the Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market St., Mahaffey, PA 15757. A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Brett Larson officiating.
Interment will take place at Mount Zion Independent Church Cemetery, Mahaffey.
