Martha Jean "Marcy" (Pearce) Gearhart

Martha Jean “Marcy” Gearhart, 82, of Fruitland Park, Florida, formerly of Punxsutawney, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born December 30, 1940 to John and Lavera (Pierce) Pearce in Rossiter.

Marcy was active in the Jefferson County Republican Party throughout her life. She was a caregiver for over 30 years caring for people around the area. She enjoyed driving her golf cart and visiting her neighbors in Florida, attending flea markets and yard sales and playing bingo.

She is survived by four sons; Jerry H. Pearce and wife Olga, DuBois, Carl E. Ackerson and wife Mary, Punxsutawney, Patrick J. Ackerson, Indiana and Michael S. Ackerson and wife Betsy, Punxsutawney, eight grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde “Skeets” Gearhart, and two brothers, John Pearce and Peter Pearce.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 PM until the time of a private family funeral service at 6:00 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc., 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

Interment will take place at Pearce Cemetery.
