Mary M. (Ishman) Godo

Mary M. Godo, 81, of Rochester Mills, passed away on Saturday June 10, 2023 at Mulberry Square.

She was born August 8, 1941, to Howard and Rhoda (Hicks) Ishman in Punxsutawney.

Mary was an active member of the Covode United Methodist Church. Teaching Sunday School, youth group leader, among other duties. In her older years she kept active in the church by loyally sending cards to shut-ins every month and coordinating special music for the Sunday services. Mary also carried 2-dollar bills with her, handing them out to children she would encounter. She stayed active in the church even though she was unable to attend herself. She loved making people feel blessed.  Mary worked at Stanley Tool in her younger years in CT shortly after she married William “Bill” Godo in 1963. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches, watching western movies, painting ceramics, cooking, baking and was known for her excellent peanut butter fudge.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Howard W. Godo and wife Kim, Covode, Ken W. Godo and wife Denette, and a daughter Rhoda M. Arnold and husband Brett, both of Punxsutawney, two grandchildren, Jake Godo and wife Jocelyn, Altoona, Josh Godo and wife Lexie, Punxsutawney, and a great grandchild on the way, a sister-in-law Emily Barnett and husband Al, Punxsutawney and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William “Bill” Godo, who passed away August 2, 2003, two brothers Robert and Johnny Ishman, and two sisters Mamie Knox and Betty Jean Ishman.

Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 6:00 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc., 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

Interment will take place at Mahoning Union Cemetery in Marchand.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Living Thunder Music Ministries, 120 Oak St. , Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
