Merle L. "Pee Wee" Sprankle, 91 of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center.
Merle was born February 21,1926 in Hamilton, a son of the late George and Carmen (Harwick) Sprankle. He was also preceded in death by his son Doug Sprankle.
He married the love of his life Sally (White) Sprankle of Punxsutawney on August 1, 1953. They were married 64 years.
Merle was a WWII Veteran of the US Army.
He was a member of the Canoe Ridge Church of God. He worked 38 years for P&N Coal before retiring.
In addition to his wife Sally, he is survived by two daughters; Deborah (Ronald) Bishop of Punxsutawney, Linda Baun-Kidd (Joe) of Home, one daughter-in-law; Melissa Guidish Sprankle of Rossiter, three brothers; Richard Sprankle of Tennessee, Larry Sprankle of Falls Church, VA, and Robert (Harriet) Sprankle of Punxsutawney, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents and son, he is preceded in death by two brothers; Ronald Sprankle and James Sprankle, and two sisters; Norma Barnett and Nettie Domb.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11 AM with Randy Brooks and Pastor Bob Bish officiating.
Interment will be at Union Cemetery.
