M. Jean Rosborough

Margaret Jean Rosborough, 94, originally from Marchand, PA, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Punxsutawney Hospital.

Jean was born September 6, 1928, to the late J. Glenn and Cleone (Shields) Rosborough.  She lived most of her life at her family homestead in Marchand, PA.  She was a 1947 graduate of Punxsutawney High School.  Jean was employed by GTE Sylvania for 40 years, retiring in 1990.  She also worked at Sportswear in Punxsutawney as a zipper sewer where they had a daily quota of 26 dozen zippers.  She attended Marchand United Methodist Church, where she was a secretary for many years.

Jean loved cats; she took in all strays.  She also loved gardening, flowers and tending to her family home.  She helped care for her family as they aged.  Jean enjoyed trying out new restaurants in Warren, PA with her girlfriends from GTE Sylvania.

Jean is survived by her nieces and nephews:  Daryl Rosborough, Orlando, FL; Penny (Grover) Reese, Winston, GA; Bryce (Lynda) Griffith, Leesburg, GA, Barry Griffith, Alameda, CA, Brent (Barb) Griffith, Saltsburg, PA, and Janet Griffith, Stephens City, VA, and many great nieces and nephews.  Special thanks to Jill and Jeff Homan, friends and caregivers.

Jean was preceeded in death by her grandparents, James B. and Esther (Allshouse) Rosborough, her parents, J. Glenn and Cleone (Shields) Rosborough, her sister Erma Griffith and brother-in-law Dean, her brother, Fred Rosborough and sister-in-law Grace, her lifelong friend Robert (Bob) Bowley, and her special cousin Ellery Shields.

Friends will be received on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with a service following at 11:00 AM conducted by Dr. Thomas A. Topar at the McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney, PA  15767.

Burial will follow at Marchand Cemetery, Marchand, PA.
