Richard Blair Blose

Richard Blair Blose, age 82, of Punxsutawney, passed away, Monday, April 16, 2018, at Mulberry Square Elder Care & Rehabilitation Center. Richard was born December 22, 1935 in Timblin, a son of the late John Blair Blose and Lillie (McGregor) Blose. He was a proud US Marine Corps veteran serving his tour of duty during the Korean War from 1955 to 1957.Richard earned his associates Degree from DuBois Business College and worked with his parents to establish the Blose-McGregor Medicare Center and later becoming the former co-owner of Blose-McGregor Health Care Center with his brothers. He was also a sales associate for Anderson Company. He was a member of the John W. Jenks Lodge # 534, Elks, Eagles and MOOSE. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, golf, pool league, gardening, playing guitar, collecting guns and old time country music. When recently asked what he was most proud of in life , his response was " my children". "Once a Marine, always a Marine" was a statement that fit him well. He was a man of integrity and accomplished anything he set out to do. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 39 years; Patricia (Kephart) Barilar- Blose of Punxsutawney, children; Debbie Mumper and husband Hank of Punxsutawney, Mona Sarriccio of Florida, Gwen Miller of Moon Twp., Kathy Barnard and husband Richard of Greensburg and US Marine Sgt. Major Douglas Blose and wife Melissa of Virginia Beach, VA. Step Children; Joan Barilar of Mechanicsburg, Patsy Johnson and husband Dirk of Sterling, VA., and A. Alan Barilar and Shirley Pickens of California. 8 grandchildren; Ryan and Tracy Anderson, Mason Hanley, Eric and Luke Manners, Jenna Miller, Adam Barnard, Charlsey Blose Cashiola, 2 step grandchildren; Andrew Angle, Nicholas Barilar and 6 great grandchildren; Zakk Anderson, Sky Anderson, Cole Hanley, Ally Manners, Phalen Manners and Ovanda Cashiola. Siblings; Darlene Shaffer and husband Jim of Oliveburg, William Blose of Punxsutawney, Jim Blose and wife Janice of Punxsutawney and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara (Pattison) Blose, sister; Sue Dickey and brother in law Louis Dickey, brother's; Terry Blose and Barry Blose and a grandson; Nathan Farcus. All arrangements are private for family from 11-1 pm time of service, and under the direction of the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.
