Robert A. Hinderliter, 87 of Mayport went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
Robert was born November 5, 1929 in Ringgold Township on the family homestead, a son of the late Walter and Mazie (Powell) Hinderliter.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha L. (Himes) Hinderliter of Mayport. They were married 62 years.
He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953.
In 1966, Bob opened Hinderliter's Garage where he worked most of his life and later joined by his son Mike before retiring in 2003. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he had various callings including Elder and High Priest and twice as Branch President for a total of 16 years where he led the local congregation. He was an avid gardener, farmer, he enjoyed his orchards, farm animals, and raising chickens. Bob lived at his family's farm for his entire life.
In addition to his wife Martha, he is survived by two sons; Michael Hinderliter and wife Lois of Mayport, and Steven Hinderliter and wife Brenda of Home. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one brother; Delmer Hinderliter, and one sister; Violet Miller.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Saturday December 17, 2016 at the McCabe Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held Sunday December 18, 2016 at 2 pm with Bishop Bryan Neal officiating.
Interment will follow at Ringgold Cemetery.
