Roger T. Whitton, 67, of Mahaffey, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024, in the presence of his family at West Penn Hospital.
He was born on July 15, 1957 to Herman and Joan (Dolges) Whitton in Clearfield.
Roger was employed by Guelich Explosives where he started as a driller and worked his way up to being a superintendent for many years before moving onto Douglas Explosives where he worked until his retirement. Roger’s hobbies included family time, fishing and watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Being adventurous in nature, he loved taking his children, and later nephews, on drives exploring the woods all around the Bells Landing area. Roger’s true passion was being with his wife Denise. Working away during the week, Roger would come home on the weekend to spend every moment he could with his wife and children.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Denise (Neff) Whitton, Mahaffey; a daughter Nicole L. Whitton (David Keen), DuBois; a son Greg T. Whitton, Osceola Mills; his mother, Joan (Dolges) Whitton, Mahaffey; two brothers: Joseph Whitton (Alberta) and John Whitton, both of Mahaffey; a sister, Ellen Vasbinder (John), Curwensville; three sisters-in-law: Pamela Meterko (Kevin), Joan Yip (Wone), and Valeria Schall (Ryan); two brothers-in-law: Dennis Neff (Shari), and Robert Neff and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, and a father-in-law Melvin C. Neff.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 5:00 PM at the Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market Street, Mahaffey, PA 15757, with Pastor Bruce Ward officiating.
