Ronald C. Meckley, 80, of Curwensville, entered into rest Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, after fighting a courageous five-year battle with lung cancer.
He was born November 28, 1943 to Ray and Olive "Ruth" (Billings) Meckley in Bell Township, Clearfield County.
Ron attended the Mahaffey Brethren Church most of his life and most recently attended the Banner Ridge Church. He started working when he was 15 years old driving a dump truck for his uncle and then moving on to working for various coal companies driving tri-axle and heavy equipment. He worked for Benjamin, Brown Brothers and Hepburnia Coal Company. Ron enjoyed going to church and talking about God, working on vehicles, spending time with his family and his beloved dog Annie.
He is survived by his wife Joyce M. (Howe) Meckley, Curwensville, three children; Renee Howell (Ed), Marion Center, Ronald S. Meckley, (Cansas), Punxsutawney, Kimberly Campbell (Roger), Mahaffey, seven grandchildren; Luciann Marsh, Donelle Drummond, Lindsey Holt (Alex), Shayne Derrick, Mason Derrick, Kaleb Derrick and Makenna Derrick, two sisters; Carol Bracken (Vance), Curwensville and Joanne Turner (Doug), Grampian, and a brother Michael Meckley (Caroline), Mahaffey and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Jodi M. Derrick, great grandson Dekova Marsh, two brothers Roger C. Meckley and Arthur Meckley, and a nephew Philip W. Turner.
Friends will be received on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market Street, Mahaffey. A funeral service will be celebrated at 1 PM on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the funeral home with Pastor James Hurd officiating.
Interment will take place at Mount Zion Cemetery, Mahaffey.
