Ruth Etta Zahursky, 94 of New Washington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 1, 2017.
Mrs. Zahursky was born on February 26, 1923 in Westover, a daughter of the late Orville and Leah (Woods) Fronk.
Ruth was a 1941 graduate of Westover High School. She worked at several sewing factories early in life, then sold Avon and was always a homemaker. She loved to cook, sew, quilt, watch the Pirates on TV, work in her flowers beds, and visit with her family and friends. She was a Methodist by faith and a member of the New Washington Methodist Church for 72 years. She was a wonderful mother and friend, and the last member of her generation.
She is survived by one son; Dave A. Zahursky of Mahaffey, one daughter; Shirley Hoyne (William) of Altoona, two grandchildren; Randy Riley (Kris), Stephanie Turin (Todd), five great-grandchildren; Ryan, Madison, and Shawn Riley, Trevor and Emma Turin, numerous nieces and nephews, and her very good friend, Tessie Singer (David) of Mahaffey.
She is preceded in death by her first husband; Harry Bell who passed away in 1952, her second husband; Emil Zahursky who passed away in 1998, three brothers; Donald, Milton, and Orville Fronk, two sisters; Cordela Wagner and Gladys Fronk, one special sister-in-law; Emma Bell.
Friends will be received from 2-8 pm on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the New Washington United Methodist Church.
Additional viewing will be held from 10-11 am on Friday, August 4, 2017, where a funeral service will follow at 11 AM with Rev. John White and Rev. Cub Jones officiating.
Interment will follow at New Washington Cemetery.
