Surilla May Leamer

Surilla May Leamer, 95, of Austin, formerly of Burnside, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.

Surilla was born on July 17, 1929, in Commodore, Indiana County to William and Bessie (Lee) Sunderland.

She was a devoted homemaker and there was nothing she loved more than her family. She was a talented mandolin player, and she played at various fairs and events around the area. Surilla loved taking photographs and creating albums which she loved looking at often with her family. She often took photos of her beloved flower gardens that she tended to regularly.

Surilla is survived by a son, James H. Watson (Pam), Austin, and two daughters, Jeanne Watson, Millersville and Janice Holt (Tom), Clearfield; seven grandchildren, Jessica Dinger, Kim Ryen (Dan), James Watson Jr. (Jackie), Darron Young ,Vicki Duez (Mark), Tracy Walker and Kristen Rowland; five great grandchildren, Carter and Ella Newcome, Robin Welder (Ryan), Haley Gardner (Eddie) and Luke Ryen, ten brothers and sisters: Bill Sunderland, Judy Stewart, Linda Hester, Janet Irvin, Nancy DeYoung, Evelyn Slonaker, Robert Sunderland, Shirley Sunderland, Mary Pennington, and Thomas Sunderland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Hobert Watson; her second husband, Roger Pennington; her third husband, Orvis Leamer; and one sister Catherine Snow.

Friends will be received on Sunday from 1-3:00 PM and also on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the Waldron Funeral Home, 831 Market St., Mahaffey, PA 15757.

Interment will be at Burnside Cemetery.
