Sylvia Frew Bishop, 87, passed away peacefully at her residence in Sandy Valley, NV, on February 25, 2022.
Sylvia was born to H.S. Frew and Wilda (Hoffer) Frew on September 6, 1934.
She graduated from Punxsutawney High School with the Class of 1952 and was wedded to Harry C. Bishop in October of that year. They resided in Punxsutawney where they raised their family. Both led Christ-centered lives and through their faith were a witness to many. After Harry’s retirement, the couple relocated to Lakeland, FL. Sylvia remained in Lakeland after the passing of her husband in 2010 until her move to Sandy Valley, NV. Throughout her life, Sylvia enjoyed traveling around the country in their RV, boating, fishing, swimming, gardening, baking, and cooking. Blessed with an artistic flair, her appearance reflected her bold and colorful style while her home reflected her love of woodworking, painting, and love of sewing. She faithfully attended church. Blessed with a beautiful voice, Sylvia used it in the choir in praise and worship of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by a son, Ronald L. Bishop and wife Deborah of Punxsutawney; daughter Janine Schlemmer and husband David of Punxsutawney; and son Brian Bishop and wife Joy of Sandy Valley, NV.; grandchildren Ronald Bishop Jr., Amanda Miller, Casey Schlemmer, Codey Schlemmer, and step-granddaughter Corey Schlemmer; great-grandchildren Ella, Olivia, Sophia Bishop; Mcgrath and Baier Miller, Emelia Schlemmer, and Savannah Schlemmer. Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Hugh, and infant son David..
Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 4, 2022, from 6– 8:00 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home, 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney, PA 15767. Friends will also be received on Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:000 AM. at the McCabe Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held immediately following the second viewing beginning at 11am and officiated by Pastor Donald Pendley.
Interment will take place at Ridgemont Cemetery, Bell Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
