Tricia L. Martin

November 14, 1935 — September 3, 2024

Punxsutawney

Tricia Luanne (Wayland) Martin, age 88 of Punxsutawney, PA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones, now safe and secure in the arms of her Savior. Though saddened by her passing, her family rejoices in her triumphant return to her heavenly Father.

Tricia was born in Summerville, PA on November 14th, 1935, a daughter of the late James Isaac and Blanche Twila (Henry) Wayland.

Upon graduation from Brookville High School, she married her sweetheart, Nelson D. Martin, on March 9th, 1953 and moved to Colorado to support his Army career and start their family.

She served her community as a phlebotomist at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital for 27 years, worked in the cardiology unit, spent 2 years taking medical dictation, and provided cleaning services for King Maceyko Dermatology. Her greatest passion and purpose upon the passing of her husband was serving as an aid in the Punxsutawney Elementary School system for 13 years.

She was an active, faithful, servant, and former member of the Punxsutawney First United Methodist Church, finding great joy in helping with vacation bible school, children’s ministry, and missions work. More recently, she attended One Life Church in Punxsy and loved supporting Moving Mountains Missions and special child, Jimmy, whom she sponsored several years ago.

She dedicated her life to her family, to feeding the hungry and to sharing her Christian faith. She loved to read and cook and found great pleasure in spending time and making memories with her beloved neighbor and porch buddy, Patti Uzzo, and her incredibly special and loved friend, Lanny Ferraro.

Tricia is survived by three children: son Nelson Martin and wife Donna of Edmond, Oklahoma, daughter Kelly Reitz and husband Dan of Punxsutawney, daughter Kim Brady and husband Tim of Smicksburg, and a son-in-law, Denny Wineberg of Big Run; 10 grandchildren: Jason Wineberg (Branda), Renee Albert (Jamie), Melia Fogarty (Mike), Robyn Wineberg, Danielle Lundy (Jay), Lindsay Birdwell (Brandon), Joshua Reitz, Ashley Regan (Adam), Tricia Brady (Hannah), and Jacob Brady (Taylor); and 12 great-grandchildren: Bailey Wineberg, Daniel Albert (Breanna), Hunter Albert (Emma), Quinn Mace, Ben Birdwell, Aubrey and Nicholas Wineberg, Patrick and Hazel Lundy, and Major, Beckham, and Tripp Regan.

In addition to her parents and her husband Nelson, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Leslie Wineberg, her sister Delores Walters and brothers James Wayland and Andrew Wayland.

Friends will be received on Friday, September 6th, 2024 from 11:00AM until the time of the funeral service at 1:00PM at McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney, PA.

Private interment will follow at Vanderfort Cemetery in Summerville, PA.
