Violet K. Stear

Violet K. Stear, 94 of Rossiter, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at DuBois Nursing Home.
Violet was born May 26, 1922 in Dolben, W,VA., a daughter of the late Elmer and Elsie (Robey) Laurie.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wird A. Stear three brothers; Layton Hoopengarner, Arven Hoopengarner, and infant Ardon Hoopengarner.
She was a member of the Juneau United Methodist Church. She loved flower gardening, cooking and making great potato salad.
Violet is survived by one daughter; Sandy Pierce and husband Claude of Reynoldsville, one brother; Dayton Hoopengarner, two grandchildren; Kathy (Steve) Hickman, John (Angela) Pierce, seven great grandchildren; Ashley and Justin Pierce, Brady and Lars Hatch, Noah Hickman, Maria and Emily Donahue, and one great-great granddaughter.
Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday, February 24, 2017 at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the funeral home with Joe Buterbaugh officiating.
Interment is private for family.
