William Joseph Jarbeck, II, 75, of Punxsutawney, passed away on May 1, 2023, at his home.
He was born May 21, 1947, to William J. Jarbeck, Sr., and Laura Jean Fonner
Jarbeck, in Punxsutawney.
Bill was a Vietnam War Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army as a heavy
truck operator.
Bill was a lifelong member of the American Legion, a member of Punxsutawney
Elks Lodge #301 who honored him as Elk of the Year in 2014-15, the Punxsutawney FOE #1231, and St. Adrian Catholic Church. Bill was a self-employed truck
driver, a skilled mechanic and owner of Bill’s Auto Service.
Bill was a country music lover. When he was younger, he enjoyed hunting with
his dad, siblings, and brother-in-law’s. He also enjoyed studying and learning about
guns, coins, and antiques. He had an endless knowledge of vehicles,
especially Lincolns and trucks, but no truck was better than a Dodge! Bill will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered for his wit and one liners, especially reminding everyone "What it is, it is."
He is survived by his daughter Josie Jarbeck of Erie and his son William Jarbeck, III and
wife Lori (DeSalve) of Hanover, two grandchildren; Chloe Jarbeck of San Diego,
CA and Taylor Jarbeck of Hanover, PA, his dear friend Thelma Freedline, and
many foster children. He is also survived by his siblings: Frank James Jarbeck
(Gloria Pulford), Barbara Reis (Bill), Patricia Brubaker (Richard), Robert Jarbeck,
Christine Braughler, Rebecca Ramirez (Roy), Beatrice Jarbeck-Burk (Kenny),
Bonnie Jarbeck Kline, Jeffrey Jarbeck (Tracy), Marlene Sherwin (Troy), and Julie
Jarbeck-Walko (Don), and many nieces and nephews. Bill was a dog lover and he
will be sorely missed by his pups Shadow and Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patricia Sweeney Jarbeck, his
sister Wilma Jean Jarbeck and three brothers; Richard, Douglas and Dennis.
Friends will be received at McCabe Funeral Home, Inc., 114 Maple Avenue, Punxsutawney on Friday,
from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and also Saturday from 10:00 AM until the
time of service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can
be made in Bill’s memory to Lisa’s Ladybugs Patient Care Fund, PO Box 692,
Punxsutawney, PA 15767or to the Anita Community Park Association, PO Box 290, Anita, PA 15711.
Interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney, with military honors
provided by the Jefferson County Veterans Honor Guard.
