William L. McCormick
March 12, 1944 — February 14, 2016
William L. McCormick, 71 of Smicksburg, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Aspinwall.
Mr. McCormick was born March 12, 1944 in Indiana, PA., a son of the late Vance C. and Mary M. (Whitsell) McCormick.
He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine A. (Hill) McCormick on March 19, 2014.
William was a veteran of the US Army and a lifelong member of the Rossiter American Legion.
He enjoyed flower gardening, being outdoors, hunting, fishing and woodcrafting.
He is survived by two sons; Vance McCormick and wife Margie, Dan McCormick and wife Mona all of Smicksburg, two daughters; Billie Jo Sloniger and husband Edward of Punxsutawney, Kim Good and husband Brian of Smicksburg, two sisters; Nioma Kennedy of Punxsutawney, Barbara Johnston and friend Rodger Pieffer of Indiana, seven grandchildren; Shawn Smith, Kayla Stiver, Shayla DiCello, Daniel McCormick, Jr., Danielle McCormick, Cheyenne McCormick and Brice Good. Seven great grandchildren; Layla Ewen, Brock DiCello, Zachary and Shawna Stiver, Hayden Smith and Lucas and Beau McCormick.
In addition to his his wife Geraldine, he was preceded in death by an infant sister.
Friends will be received from 3-7 pm Thursday at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney where a funeral service will be held at 7 pm with pastor Kal Henry officiating.
